This past Sunday was Vision Sunday at Holly Naz and in case you missed it or want a refresher, below are some of my notes. You can also click HERE and hear the sermon from our website.
When our vision becomes compromised by age or disease, we are fortunate to be able to go to the eye doctor and take care of the problem. Often the doctor will prescribe eyeglasses or contact lenses, which correct our vision so we can see clearly. Good vision gives us the right perspective and enables us to function well. However, when we first try out our new glasses, (Think bi and tri focals), we may find that it takes time to get used to the corrected vision. At first things may seem strange, like we are not seeing clearly. But slowly and surely, our eyes adjust to the correction of the new lenses and contact and we are able to see well once again.
John 2:1-11 (CEB) – Wedding at Cana
…7 Jesus said to the servants, “Fill the jars with water,” and they filled them to the brim. 8 Then he told them, “Now draw some from them and take it to the headwaiter,” and they did. 9 The headwaiter tasted the water that had become wine. He didn’t know where it came from, though the servants who had drawn the water knew. The headwaiter called the groom 10 and said, “Everyone serves the good wine first. They bring out the second-rate wine only when the guests are drinking freely. You kept the good wine until now.” 11 This was the first miraculous sign that Jesus did in Cana of Galilee. He revealed his glory, and his disciples believed in him.
We know this story as the beginning of the ministry of Jesus. This was His first miracle of many that is recorded in the Bible. Here we see He takes the ordinary, plain water and changes it into sweet delicious wine. Scripture says it was the best…
Right now we are the water that Jesus is ready to turn into wine and ready to serve up to those around us, to our community… But what does all of this really mean? Are we ready for a miracle of God to do some amazing things through us, through His church, through Holly Naz?
God has a plan for us all we need to do is pick up our glasses and see the vision He has for us. But before we get there…
Stupid stick figure drawing…
SO how do we move along this path…
On a Journey Together: Where Life Transformation Happens With Each Step
Step 1: Connect: You Can’t Do Life Alone – Connected to God and Each Other
Step 2: Grow: Growing People Change
Step 3: Serve: Saved People Serve People
Step 4: Go: Found People Find People
Step 5: Who now help people connect, grow, serve, and go
It begins with intentionality. Everything we do needs to be done with purpose/mission. And we need you! We need all of you to play a part in making this life transformation journey work. It needs to be intentional. We can’t just sit back and say well someone will take care of it. Let’s all join together to create space where intentional life transformation can take place.
Some things on the horizon that will begin in this journey will be to start a new Sunday morning journey groups that will take place starting September 10 following the morning service.
We now will have 3 other staff members as a part of our church besides myself. They won’t be paid but will be serving God will all that they are…
Pastor Denise: Discipleship Pastor
Pastor Dan: Connections Pastor
Pastor Sally: Pastor of Prayer
There will be different events for our kids, WIN again this summer, etc.
We may do things a little different from time to time but do not fret. The methods may change but the message of life through our Risen Savior, Jesus Christ will never change. That is the heartbeat of who we are and that is what brings about the life transformation…
We are grounded in the Word
Powered by prayer
Led by the Spirit
God is on the move and I hope you can see it. We want to see life transformation as people move along the path toward God.
It may seem like water now but soon our vision will change and we will really see that what was once water is now wine! Let’s go and taste this precious wine from the hands of God. Are you ready church? Are you ready for what God wants to do in and through Holly Naz? God is moving, are you ready to join?
Hope you can join us in the following weeks as we go more in depth with each step.
